Pricing. 10-yard $547 · 15-yard $647 · 20-yard $747 · 30/40-yard $999. That’s the Connecticut rate plus a $100 partner-service rate, and the same price anywhere in the county. Each includes delivery, pickup, disposal and a 7-day rental; the weight allowance, the $0.10/lb overage and the $15/day extension are the same as in Connecticut.

Grizzly Bags are Connecticut-only. County-wide details: dumpster rental in Westchester County, NY.

In Irvington, the Village sends you a bill for the couch. Its sanitation rules say bulk garbage goes out on your regular day with no appointment, but "There is a recently established fee for Bulk Garbage pick-up." The address and items are noted at pickup, and the property owner gets a bill from the Village Clerk/Treasurer's Office.

Free if it's metal

Recyclable bulk is the exception. Refrigerators, air conditioners, appliances, TVs and other electronics are picked up curbside by appointment on Thursdays, and the Village is plain that "There is NO CHARGE for Bulk Recycling." Book by the Wednesday cutoff (details in the FAQ) and the old washer leaves for free.

So before you rent, sort the pile. Metal and electronics go to the Village. Whatever's left decides whether a container is worth it.

Renovation debris is on the excluded list

The same rules page lists materials the Village won't collect, and "construction and house renovation debris, such as lumber, stones, rock, masonry, plaster, sheet rock" is on it. Those must be removed by a private carter, contractor, gardener or landscaper. Oversize brush and stumps are on that list too.

That covers most of what comes out of an old house during a remodel: plaster walls, lumber, stone, broken masonry. A dumpster in the driveway gives it somewhere to go while the work happens.

Permits

We looked through the Village's Public Works and Building pages and its permit-type lists and didn't find a dumpster or street-container permit. The lists do include interior demolition permits, so if your project tears out walls or finishes, check with the Building Department about that side of it. For a box on the street, call before you book. Contacts are in the FAQ.

Picking a size

Plaster and stone pack dense, so a 10 or 15 is usually plenty for a room or two of it. A 20 makes sense for a whole-floor renovation or a house being emptied for sale.

What customers in Irvington are saying

“Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”

“Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”

“It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”

How do I schedule a refrigerator or air conditioner pickup?

Bulk recycling is collected curbside on Thursdays by appointment only, with no collection on holidays. Call the DPW at 591-6044 or email dpw@irvingtonny.gov. Requests must be received by noon on Wednesday for a Thursday pickup.
