The 10-yard is the size for one room's worth of work: a bathroom gut, a cleared-out spare room, a small roof. It's also the size we talk people down to more often than up. When the debris is heavy (tile, plaster, shingles), the 1,000-lb allowance runs out before the space does, so a bigger dumpster mostly buys empty air.

Westchester orders go through the same Grizzly office as Connecticut ones, priced up front and held when you send the request.

Jobs that fit a 10-yard

  • A full bathroom gut. Vanity, tub surround, tile, drywall and flooring, with room left over in most houses. Plaster-and-lath walls are the exception to watch; they're heavy.
  • A small roof or a garage roof. About 3 squares of asphalt shingles before the weight allowance is used up.
  • One room of flooring. Tile, hardwood, carpet and pad together.
  • A one-car garage or a basement corner that's mostly boxes and old furniture.
  • A small wood shed taken apart, roughly 8x10 to 10x12, floor and roof included.

Westchester County pricing, all four sizes

Westchester County pricing: the Connecticut rate plus a $100 partner-service rate, every size. Each size includes delivery, pickup, dumping, the 7-day rental window, and a weight allowance shown below. Standard add-ons disclosed up-front and confirmed at booking. Tap any size for the dedicated size guide.

Included in your base rate

  • Delivery and pickup
  • Dumping at licensed transfer station
  • 7-day rental window
  • Included weight per size (see size table)
  • One price anywhere in Westchester County

Standard add-ons (disclosed up-front)

  • Overweight: $0.10 per pound over the included cap
  • Extension day: $15 per day beyond the 7-day window
  • Tire (if loaded): $50 each
  • CFC appliance (refrigerator, freezer, AC, dehumidifier — if loaded): $50 each
  • Mattress or box spring (if loaded): $50 each

Add-on charges reflect actual transfer-station and disposal fees passed through to you — we don't mark up overweight, extra items, or disposal costs.

Final pricing confirmed at booking based on actual weight, rental length, and items loaded.

What can’t go in the dumpster
  • Paint, solvents, oil, household chemicals (route through your county's household hazardous waste program)
  • Batteries — any kind, lithium especially
  • Asbestos-containing materials (specialized hauler required)
  • Tires (route to a tire dealer or pay $50/each disposal fee if loaded)
  • Medical waste
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Customer is responsible for re-routing prohibited items. See the full prohibited-items list for Connecticut.

What you see is what you lock in — one Westchester County price, no weekend delivery fees. Standard charges for overweight, extension days, and certain prohibited items disclosed above and confirmed at booking.

What $547 covers

  • Delivery and pickup anywhere in Westchester County
  • Disposal of everything in the load, up to 1,000 lbs (0.5 tons)
  • 7 days on site; each extra day is $15
  • Weight past the allowance bills at $0.10 per pound

That's the Connecticut rate for this size plus a $100 partner-service rate. Westchester jobs are fulfilled by licensed, insured local partners and coordinated by Grizzly; the weight allowance, rental window and overage rate are the same as Connecticut.

Hold the $547 price

Send a lock-in request and our office calls you during business hours (Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM) to confirm and take payment. Credit card only.

When to pick something else

If the load is light and bulky (furniture, insulation, mattresses, attic contents), a 10-yard fills up long before it gets heavy, and the 15-yard is the safer call. If what's slowing you down is carrying things out of the house rather than the volume, junk removal can cost less than any dumpster, because the crew does the lifting and the 13-tier truck-space pricing is the same as Connecticut.

How booking works in Westchester

There's no online checkout for Westchester. You send a lock-in request with your address, date and size, and the $547 price is held. Our office calls you during business hours (Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM) to confirm your order and take payment by phone. Credit card only. Your dumpster is booked once payment is confirmed.

Next-day delivery or service is standard. Same-day is sometimes possible. Call before 10 AM to check. You still call Grizzly. Our office handles your booking, pricing, and follow-up.

Placement. A driveway drop usually needs no permit. If the dumpster has to sit on the street, check with your village, town or city about a permit before delivery day, and mention it in your request.

Not accepted. The same materials rules as Connecticut apply: no concrete, brick, asphalt pavement, dirt, rock or stumps. The full list of what can't go in a dumpster covers the rest. Grizzly Bags aren't offered in New York; for a small pile, junk removal is the other option.

10-Yard dumpster questions from Westchester

Is a 10-yard big enough for a bathroom remodel in an older Westchester house?

Usually, yes, on space. The thing to watch in older houses is weight: plaster walls and a cast-iron tub can push a bath gut past the 1,000-lb allowance. Extra weight is $0.10 per pound, so a few hundred pounds over is a small add-on, not a reason to size up.

How many squares of shingles fit in a 10-yard?

About 3 squares (300 square feet of roof). Asphalt shingles weigh roughly 300 lb per square, so the 1,000-lb allowance sets the limit. For a bigger roof, the 15-yard holds about 6 squares and the 20-yard about 13.

Can I book a 10-yard online for Westchester?

Not online. Westchester has no self-checkout: you send a lock-in request, the price is held, and our office calls during business hours to confirm and take payment by phone (credit card only). Call (203) 219-8855 if you'd rather do it all by phone.

Can I get a 10-yard the same day?

Next-day delivery is standard in Westchester. Same-day is sometimes possible; call before 10 AM to check.
