The last week of a lease is usually a scramble. The movers took what you're keeping. There's a couch, three lamps, two chairs, and a dresser left in the bedroom — all the furniture that didn't fit the new place. Plus the pile of "I'll sort this later" boxes in the closet. Plus the broken IKEA bookshelf the movers refused.
That's a move-out cleanout. We do these all day, every day, across our service area. Same-day when in-area. Same-day or next-day for everywhere else. Single phone call, no sales process, real pricing.
Who this is for
- Renters at the end of a lease — apartments, condos, single-family
- Condo owners selling or vacating
- Homeowners mid-move whose belongings outgrew the new house
- Landlords and property managers prepping units between tenants
- Anyone leaving a property with stuff that's not coming with them
If you have a deadline (lease ends Friday, closing on Monday, movers come Saturday) — call early. The earlier you book, the more flexibility we have on dispatch.
What we do
- Show up. Truck arrives at the window we confirmed.
- Walk the unit. Crew lead with you (or your designated contact). You point at what goes; we plan the load.
- Load. Two- or three-person crew, ~20-cubic-yard truck (bigger than the standard 15-17 cu yd industry truck — more space per dollar). We do the lifting; you watch or step out.
- Sort at the curb. Donatable items separated for charity routing. Everything else hauled.
- Broom-sweep (when requested). Floors swept, surfaces wiped, light bulk debris cleared.
- Invoice. Final tier confirmed before we leave. Credit card, cash, or check.
Single-room jobs: 1-2 hours. Whole-unit jobs: 3-6 hours. Multi-unit landlord cleanouts: scheduled across multiple visits when scope justifies.
Junk removal — truck-space pricing
When loading the dumpster yourself isn’t the right call — small volume, awkward access, or you just want it gone today — we send a crew. Pricing runs by truck space used, not by item. Final pricing confirmed before removal begins.

Junk-removal pricing by truck-space used at the end of the job — 13-tier ladder from $179 (minimum load) to $979 (full truckload). Typical move-out ranges:
- Single-room cleanout (some furniture, some boxes, some random stuff): $179-$359
- Studio or one-bedroom full unit: $359-$659
- Two-bedroom apartment: $559-$979
- Single-family home (typical move-out, not whole-home cleanout): $979-$1,700 across one or two visits
For projects bigger than a typical move-out — full estate cleanout, downsizing, foreclosure — see Whole-Home Cleanouts. For demolition-material loads (mixed reno debris, tile, plaster, drywall), a 10-yard dumpster at $447 might beat junk-removal pricing. Broken concrete, dirt, and clean-fill loads aren't accepted in any size — different hauler.
Same rates across our entire service area. No zone surcharges.
Same-day move-out: how it actually works
We get the "I need this done today" call multiple times a week. Honest framing:
- Call before 11 AM, in-area town, our morning route has capacity → ~85% same-day delivery rate
- Call 11 AM-2 PM → 25-50% same-day, depending on the day and our load
- After 2 PM → next-day is the realistic answer
Same-day costs the same as next-day. No expedite surcharge. The question is just whether dispatch capacity exists today — and dispatch capacity is a "call now and find out" answer, not a "guaranteed yes" promise. We tell you on the call what the realistic window looks like. See same-day vs. next-day in CT for the town-by-town map.

Move-out cleanout FAQs
Can you do same-day move-out cleanouts?
Yes — same-day works when you call before 11 AM and you're within ~45 minutes of one of our depots (Fairfield and New Haven counties; Middlesex on calls before about 9 AM; Hartford County is usually next-day). After 11 AM the odds drop. Move-out cleanouts are also available in lower Westchester County, NY; call and we'll confirm timing for your address. Phones answered 8 AM – 10 PM, 7 days; live team Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI phone assistant other times.
What counts as junk vs. donatable?
If it's broken, soiled, or end-of-life, it's junk — straight to the truck. If it's in usable condition (working furniture, clean clothing, books, working small appliances), we route it to a charity partner (Goodwill, Habitat ReStore, Salvation Army). You don't have to sort — we sort at the curb.
Do you take appliances and mattresses?
Yes. Refrigerators, freezers, AC units, dehumidifiers, washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves — all fine. CT mattress recycling is built into the operating model: mattresses route through the CT Mattress Stewardship Program (free statewide) when convenient, or come with us at $50 each disposal fee. See the CT mattress takeback program post for the free path.
Will you do a broom-sweep finish?
Yes — broom-sweep is standard for cleanouts where it's needed. Floors swept, surfaces wiped down, light bulk debris cleared. We don't do deep cleaning (carpet shampoo, oven scrub, baseboards) — that's a cleaning company's job. Apartment / landlord-walkthrough-ready, not realtor-photoshoot-ready.
What if I don't know exactly how much I'm leaving behind?
That's most calls. Send us photos to (203) 219-8855 or walk us through it on the phone. We'll quote a tier range. We confirm the final tier on site before loading — never bait-and-switch up after the truck arrives.
Does this work for landlords prepping a rental for the next tenant?
Yes — landlord turnover work is regular dispatch. We can coordinate with the property manager, the outgoing tenant, or directly with the unit. For multi-property landlord cleanouts on a regular cadence, see Commercial: Property Managers for the account workflow.
Can you help if I'm leaving the country / state and can't be on site?
Yes — we run move-outs where the resident has already left. Coordinate access with the landlord or property manager; share photos of the unit; we walk it and clean it. Payment by credit card or wire. Final-state photos sent to you when done.

What's left on the last day
The furniture that didn't fit the new place, and everything the movers declined:
- Oversized upholstery. Sofas and sectionals that won't take the new stairwell.
- Pressboard furniture. Flat-pack that won't survive another disassembly — movers routinely refuse it.
- Mattresses and box springs. Connecticut runs a mattress recycling programme funded by a fee collected when new mattresses are sold, so these have a real channel rather than a landfill.
- The closet pile. Boxes labelled "sort later" that never got sorted.
- Appliances the landlord doesn't want. A window unit, a mini-fridge, sometimes a washer.
- Anything with a security deposit attached to it. Which is why the timing on these jobs is tight.
Crew or can: the weight math
The honest decision here isn't about price, it's about who does the carrying and what the material weighs.
A crew makes sense when the carry is the problem. Stairs, a hatch, a long walk to the driveway, or anything you can't physically move alone. You pay for truck space and we do all of it — $179 for a minimum load through $979 for a full 20-yard truck.
A can makes sense when the material is heavy and the pace is slow. A roll-off sits on the driveway for 7 days and you fill it whenever you have an hour. A 10-yard at $447 includes 1,000 lbs; the 20-yard at $647 includes 4,000 lbs. Past the allowance it's $0.1/lb, billed at the transfer-station rate rather than marked up.
Where the weight math bites. Household contents are light and bulky — furniture, boxes, bags — so a crew job usually fills the truck long before it troubles a weight cap. Wet material is the opposite. Water-damaged carpet, soaked cardboard, plaster and anything that has sat in standing water can run two to three times its dry weight, which is how a half-full can ends up over its allowance. If the material is wet, say so when you book and we'll size for weight rather than volume.
What can't go, wherever it's going
Some things don't ride in a truck or a can regardless of who's loading:
- Paint, solvents, fuel, pool chemicals, pesticides. Household hazardous waste goes to a municipal collection event or a designated facility. Dried-out latex paint with the lid off is usually fine as ordinary waste — check your town's rule.
- Propane tanks and pressurised cylinders. Many Connecticut transfer stations now take these free through cylinder-recycling programmes.
- Tires, car batteries, motor oil. Accepted at most town facilities, frequently free, but not in a general load.
- Asbestos-containing material. Old pipe wrap, some floor tile, certain siding. Licensed abatement first, always — we stop and tell you rather than load it.
- Concrete, brick, dirt, sod, rock and stumps. Neither a bag nor a standard can takes these; they need a dedicated heavy-material hauler.
The full reference is what can and can't go in a dumpster; the town-by-town municipal rules are in the Connecticut transfer station guide.
