estate-cleanout-loaded in Darien, CT by Stamford Junk Pros

Darien is a short hop from our Stamford depot — usually 10 to 15 minutes via I-95 east or the Post Road. Real Darien jobs cover the tier ladder end to end: a small garage clear at $295, a large furniture-and-bagged-garbage haul staged in the garage at $795, and a construction-heavy scope with roughly 30 construction bags plus a stack of mattresses that rolled to $1,090 at the top end. We also run one repeat annual job in Darien: an ice-rink tarp removal, roughly 60' × 30' cut into quarters for the truck, that we do every year at a $125 legacy rate for the same customer. Add in second-floor couch pickups at assisted-living facilities and the day-to-day Noroton / Tokeneke / Long Neck Point residential dispatches, and Darien reads as one of the most predictable towns in the network.

The truck

We show up with a 20 cubic yard truck — bigger than the standard 15-17 cubic yard industry truck, so you can toss more for less. More volume per dispatch means fewer trips, lower aggregate cost on bigger jobs, and predictable sizing math when we tier the truck-load pricing. The two-man crew rides with the truck — we do the loading, you point at the pile.

Common Darien junk removal calls

Small garage clears (~$295 range)

A recent Darien example: a few garage items pulled together for $295. Post-move tails, half-a-garage-worth of bagged household junk, seasonal-storage purges — this is the day-to-day Darien small-truck-load band.

Full-truck furniture + bagged-garbage hauls ($795 full-truck tier)

A real Darien job: large furniture plus bagged garbage all staged in the garage, loaded in a single visit at $795. Pre-listing garage clears and downsizing tails routinely stack up to this size.

Construction-bag + mattress hauls ($1,000+ range)

A recent Darien scope: roughly 30 construction bags of contractor debris plus multiple mattresses came to $1,090 across the visit. Renovation tail-ends where the general contractor left the bags on-site are a regular pattern.

Assisted-living unit pickups ($145 minimum tier)

One recent Darien call: a reclining two-seat couch off the second floor of an assisted-living facility at $145. Stair-carry included; we coordinate elevator access with the front desk when the building has one.

Annual ice-rink tarp removal (repeat customer)

One Darien customer has us back every year to break down a 60' × 30' backyard ice-rink tarp — quartered on-site for the truck — at a $125 legacy rate. Long-standing repeat scopes are the reason we hold prices steady where we can.

Pricing — $145 to $795 by truck-space used

Junk removal is priced by truck-space at the end of the job, not by item count. Thirteen tiers from $145 minimum (single-item or small-pile pickups) to $795 full truckload. Common reference points:

  • $145 minimum — a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb
  • $295 — quarter truck — typical garage cleanout or partial basement
  • $445 — half truck — apartment-sized cleanout, single-room renovation debris
  • $595 — three-quarter truck — single-family decluttering, large estate room
  • $795 — full 20-yard truck — full-property cleanouts, whole-home work

We confirm the tier on site before the truck pulls away. No bait-and-switch up after the work starts.

What we take, what we don't

On the junk truck: furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, AC units — refrigerant handled per EPA rules on pickup), televisions and electronics, exercise equipment, cardboard and general household junk, garage clear-outs, basement contents, contractor bags of renovation debris (drywall, wood, packaging — non-heavy-fill), estate contents, hot tubs, sheds, and decks (demolition quoted separately when needed).

Not on the junk truck: concrete, brick, asphalt, dirt, soil, sod, rock, sand, gravel, tree limbs, and stumps. Those materials don't ride in the crew truck. When a Darien job has any real volume of those, we drop a dumpster instead, sized with the correct weight allowance for heavy debris.

Hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazard material, lithium batteries) never rides on the truck either. Darien routes household hazardous waste through the town's recycling center — we'll point you to the current drop-off channel on the phone.

Demo work in Darien

Junk removal and demolition go together. About a third of our Darien dispatches involve some demo before the haul — kitchen cabinets coming out before the gut renovation, an old deck that needs to come down before the lumber gets hauled, a backyard shed that’s done its time. We do both in one job, one crew, one invoice.

Common Darien combo jobs: kitchen demo + appliance haul, deck teardown + lumber removal, shed demolition + debris hauling, basement gut work with the debris pulled the same day. Demo work is quoted separately — pricing varies by scope — but we can schedule both on the same truck visit.

Junk removal FAQs — Darien

How fast can you get to Darien?
Same-day before 11 AM is the standard target. From the Stamford depot, drive time is 10-15 minutes via I-95 east or Post Road — Darien is one of the shortest dispatches in our network. After 11 AM the dispatch board can still fit Darien addresses on most days.
Will you take a full assisted-living unit couch or bed off an upper floor?
Yes — one recent Darien call was a reclining two-seat couch off the second floor of an assisted-living facility at the $145 single-item minimum. Stair-carry is standard and we don't surcharge for it. We coordinate with the front desk on elevator access when the building has one, and on loading-zone timing.
Can you handle a big renovation-bag scope where the contractor left everything on-site?
Yes. A recent Darien job cleared roughly 30 construction bags plus multiple mattresses at $1,090 across the visit. As long as the bags are non-heavy-fill (drywall, wood, packaging — not concrete or dirt), they ride on the crew truck. If the pile is heavy-fill, we drop a dumpster instead.
Do you have repeat customers in Darien?
Yes — one Darien household has us back every year for their backyard ice-rink tarp removal (roughly 60' × 30', quartered on-site for the truck) at a $125 legacy annual rate we've held. Repeat annual scopes are one of the reasons prices stay steady where they can.
Will you take old mattresses and box springs?
Yes. Connecticut runs a free statewide mattress-recycling program at bymattress.com — we route mattresses through it at no additional cost. On multi-mattress hauls or estate/whole-house cleanouts, they bundle into the truck-load tier along with the other contents.
What's the cheapest junk removal job you'll take in Darien?
Our minimum charge is $145 — covers a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb. Anything that fits in less than 1/8 of our truck. For very small jobs, that's the floor. Larger jobs scale up by truck-space used, all the way to $795 for a full 20-cubic-yard load.
What can't go in your trucks?
Hazardous waste — paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazardous material. Lithium and other batteries. CT and NY both run household hazardous-waste programs through most municipalities; we'll point you to the right channel for anything we can't take. Refrigerators, freezers, ACs, and dehumidifiers are fine, but the refrigerant has to be removed (or already removed) per EPA rules — we can document this on pickup.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
Not always — depends on the job. For interior cleanouts where the crew needs access through the house, yes. For driveway, garage, or yard pickups where items are already accessible, often no — we coordinate on the call. Estate cleanouts and tenant-out scenarios where the family or property manager isn't on-site work fine if access and scope are pre-confirmed.
How fast can you come to Darien?
Same-day before 11 AM is the standard target for in-area dispatch. After 11 AM, next-day is realistic. Same-day after 11 AM or on weekends is sometimes possible if the schedule allows — call (203) 219-8855, Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM live, AI after-hours and weekends, to ask.
