The attic is where a house keeps everything it couldn't decide about: the holiday decorations (some retired, some just lost), the luggage from three suitcase generations, the kids' school projects, and boxes that were sealed in one decade and haven't been opened in this one. It's also the room nobody wants to work in — accessed by a folding ladder, floored in planks and hope, hot in summer and dim year-round.
We clean out attics across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, and Middlesex counties plus lower New London: crew up the ladder, everything down item by item, sorted with you at the landing into keep, donate, and gone. Truck-space pricing from $179, confirmed before the first box moves.
The ladder is the job
Every attic cleanout is shaped by its entrance. A walk-up attic with real stairs is just a room with a low ceiling; a pull-down ladder turns the same cleanout into a bucket brigade — one crew member above passing items down through the hatch to one below, loads sized to what a folding ladder is actually rated to carry, which is a person and not much else.
The crew works low-clearance spaces on knees and padded boards, keeps weight on the joist lines rather than trusting fifty-year-old plank flooring, and moves methodically because attics punish hurry: the framing is at forehead height and the footing is honest only where the boards are. None of this changes your price — the tier is the truck space the load fills, whether it walked down a staircase or came through a hatch one box at a time. It just changes the choreography, and we're good at the choreography.
Heat, season, and honest scheduling
An unconditioned CT attic in July is legitimately punishing — well past 100 degrees by mid-morning under a summer roof deck. We still do summer attics; we just do them like a crew that plans to be useful all day: first slot of the morning, paced, hydrated, done before the peak. If your timeline has any give, though, the cool months are the attic-cleanout sweet spot — October through May, the same attic is simply a better place to work, and the job runs faster for it.
The practical takeaway for booking: tell us it's an attic when you call, and if it's summer, take the early window. Everyone wins, including your stuff — nobody makes careful keep-or-donate decisions in a 110-degree crawl space.
What comes down, and where it goes
Attic inventories are wonderfully predictable: holiday decor by the tote, luggage, outgrown clothes in contractor bags, the crib that waited for a grandchild, paperback flats, and cardboard that came up full and somehow multiplied. The sort happens at the hatch — keep goes where you point, donate rides our charity routing with the receipt forwarded, gone rides the truck to licensed disposal.
Two attic-specific notes. Insulation stays. A cleanout removes your stored things; it doesn't disturb installed insulation, and the crew works around and above it. The hard stop is suspected vermiculite — the loose, pebbly fill in some older CT attics that can contain asbestos. See it, flag it, stop: testing comes before anyone works that attic further, us included. And pest-visited boxes — the attic classic — get gloved handling and bagging before they travel through your clean house. It's all part of the job, not a surcharge.

Truck-space pricing — attic loads ride the ladder
When loading the dumpster yourself isn’t the right call — small volume, awkward access, or you just want it gone today — we send a crew. Pricing runs by truck space used, not by item. Final pricing confirmed before removal begins.

Get a Free Junk Removal QuotePricing: the ladder above, no attic surcharge
Attic cleanouts price from the same canonical 13-tier truck-space ladder as every junk-removal job — rendered above, $179 minimum to $979 full truck. The hatch, the folding stairs, the item-by-item carry-down: none of it moves the tier, because you pay for what fills the truck, not for our sweat equity on the ladder.
Where attic math gets interesting is bundling. The attic alone might be a low tier; attic plus the garage it was feeding for thirty years is one dispatch and one very efficient tier; and as a chapter of a whole-home cleanout or estate job, the attic simply folds into the total. If you're mid-decluttering rather than emptying — some down now, more later — a Grizzly Bag staged in the driveway between visits is the patient option.
Attic full of maybe-someday?
Photos from the hatch get you a tier — the crew handles the ladder.
Five steps, hatch to hauled
- Call (203) 219-8855 or send the junk removal quote form. Say it's an attic, what the access is (walk-up or pull-down), and roughly how full. Photos from the hatch work fine.
- Schedule. Cool months anytime; summer attics get the early window.
- Tier confirmed. Before the first box comes down.
- The brigade. Crew above, crew below, sort at the landing — keep, donate, gone, your call on each.
- Down and out. Donations to charity partners, the rest to licensed transfer stations, attic floor left broom-clean along the boards.

Y “What a great experience we had with Junk Pros today! I just called yesterday and they were able to come today (a Saturday) and hauled off an almost full truck of junk from the attic, basement & garage that was left behind after the last owners moved out!! They were friendly, careful, organized and on time . . . I would definitely use them again!”
F “Very fast, friendly and helpful. They helped us clean out all of the junk in our attic and garage for a recent move. Highly recommend.”
