What Westport properties tend to hold
Westport houses are substantial and, more to the point, they have finished basements and full attics — the two spaces that hold the most and get sorted last, usually on the final day when everyone is tired. Compo Beach, Compo South, Saugatuck Shores and Beachside Avenue add shore-adjacent properties where the driveway approach sometimes decides whether a roll-off can sit alongside the crew or whether the truck has to shuttle. Greens Farms, Coleytown, Old Hill and Long Lots are larger inland lots with room to work. Downtown Westport and Saugatuck run tighter, with less staging room and more consideration for the neighbours.

The process, and why it's this way
Estate work is slower than junk removal on purpose, and the reason is the sorting.
We walk it first. Always. A description over the phone has never once produced an accurate load count, and a low quote that doubles on day two helps nobody.
We sort before we haul. The crew moves room by room and pulls anything that looks like it should be a decision — documents, photographs, safes and lockboxes, jewellery, military items, anything printed with an account number. That pile goes on a table for you to go through. We're not valuers, so the standard is deliberately generous: if there's a question, it doesn't go on the truck.
We route donations where they'll take them. Usable goods to a charity partner rather than a transfer station. It costs the same in labour and it's simply a better ending.
We plan for more than one day. Full properties run two to four. Same crew throughout, and we'll build the schedule around a closing date if there is one.
Cost, and why it's a range until we've seen it
The ladder is fixed and public:
- Minimum Load — $179. A few small items: bags, boxes, or one small piece of furniture
- 1/4 Truckload (~5 yd³) — $359. Small bedroom contents, or a few bulky items
- 1/2 Truckload (~10 yd³) — $559. Small apartment contents or several large furniture items
- Full Truckload (~20 yd³) — $979. Full home cleanout or major renovation debris
The load count is not, and that's the honest part. Most estates are multiple loads over multiple days — the living space comes out fast, then the attic, basement and garage turn out to be the actual job. We don't publish a flat estate price because we'd have to pad it to be safe, and you'd be paying for our uncertainty. Walkthrough, count, written number. On the larger properties, a 20-yard can at $647 parked on the driveway runs alongside the crew and takes the bulky material directly.

A good share of this work is for executors who live somewhere else. It's a normal arrangement, not a complication:
- We walk the property and send photos or video before you commit to anything.
- The written quote arrives by email with the load count and what's included.
- We coordinate directly with a realtor, an attorney, or a neighbour holding the key.
- Payment happens after the work, and the invoice itemises what was hauled and where it went.
