New Canaan is a 15-to-20-minute dispatch from our Stamford depot via Route 106. Real New Canaan jobs on the books cover both ends of the scope — a bedroom-set-plus-office haul (two box springs, two mattresses, a bed frame, a computer desk, and a sofa) pulled together at $295, and a single-desk add-on stop routed at $95 while we were nearby. That single-desk price sits under our standard $145 minimum: it was a small piece slotted into an in-route dispatch as an accommodation, not the day-to-day floor. The rest of the work tilts higher-end residential — post-renovation hauls in the central blocks around Smith Ridge, Ponus Ridge, and Lapham Road, estate cleanouts on the larger Country Club and Silvermine properties, and the steady flow of pre-listing decluttering on homes prepping for spring and fall market windows. Modernist mid-century homes from the Harvard Five era are part of the inventory too, and we handle the architectural sensitivity (cork floors, glass walls, tight-tolerance hallways) with real care.

The truck

We show up with a 20 cubic yard truck — bigger than the standard 15-17 cubic yard industry truck, so you can toss more for less. More volume per dispatch means fewer trips, lower aggregate cost on bigger jobs, and predictable sizing math when we tier the truck-load pricing. The two-man crew rides with the truck — we do the loading, you point at the pile.

Common New Canaan junk removal calls

Bedroom-set + office-piece hauls (~$295 range)

A recent New Canaan job pulled two box springs, two mattresses, a bed frame, a computer desk, and a sofa into one dispatch at $295. Downsizing tails and post-move bedroom clears live at this scope.

Single-piece pickups slotted into in-route stops ($95–$145 range)

One New Canaan job was a single desk pickup at $95 — an accommodation stop while a crew was nearby. Standalone single-piece calls at their own dispatch land at the $145 minimum; in-route stops sometimes come in lower.

Post-renovation debris in Silvermine / Ponus Ridge

Pulled cabinetry, bathroom fixtures, ripped-up flooring from mid-town renos. Often paired with a New Canaan dumpster rental when scope is bigger.

Modernist restoration debris

Selective demo on Harvard Five-era homes — pulling kitchen and bath fitouts while preserving the original architecture. Tight access on some of these; we work it carefully.

Country Club / Lambert Road estate cleanouts

Long driveways, multi-generation accumulation, often multi-day. See estate cleanouts for the executor-coordinated workflow.

  • 2 box springs, 2 mattresses, bed frame, computer desk, sofa$295. Small-truck-load band — a bedroom-plus-office clear-out in one visit.
  • Single desk pickup$95. In-route accommodation stop — single piece slotted in while a crew was nearby. Standalone standalone-dispatch jobs land at the $145 minimum.

Pricing — $145 to $795 by truck-space used

Junk removal is priced by truck-space at the end of the job, not by item count. Thirteen tiers from $145 minimum (single-item or small-pile pickups) to $795 full truckload. Common reference points:

  • $145 minimum — a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb
  • $295 — quarter truck — typical garage cleanout or partial basement
  • $445 — half truck — apartment-sized cleanout, single-room renovation debris
  • $595 — three-quarter truck — single-family decluttering, large estate room
  • $795 — full 20-yard truck — full-property cleanouts, whole-home work

We confirm the tier on site before the truck pulls away. No bait-and-switch up after the work starts.

All 13 truck-load tiers — New Canaan

When loading the dumpster yourself isn’t the right call — small volume, awkward access, or you just want it gone today — we send a crew. Pricing runs by truck space used, not by item. Final pricing confirmed before removal begins.

What we take, what we don't

On the junk truck: furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, AC units — refrigerant handled per EPA rules on pickup), televisions and electronics, exercise equipment, cardboard and general household junk, garage clear-outs, basement contents, office pieces (desks, filing cabinets, chairs), estate contents, hot tubs, sheds, and decks (demolition quoted separately when needed).

Not on the junk truck: concrete, brick, asphalt, dirt, soil, sod, rock, sand, gravel, tree limbs, and stumps. Those materials don't ride in the crew truck. When a New Canaan job has any real volume of those — a driveway tear-out, a stone-wall demo — we drop a dumpster instead, sized with the correct weight allowance for heavy debris.

Hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazard material, lithium batteries) never rides on the truck either. New Canaan routes household hazardous waste through the town's transfer station — we'll point you to the current drop-off channel on the phone.

Justin and his guys are the best. We had to have an old hot tub removed from a screened porch that was sunken into the floor. Mike and his crew had that thing sawed up and removed in less than 2 hours, which saved me a bundle compared to some other quotes that I had received. They will haul just about anything away for you at very competitive pricing. I will definitely recommend these guys to everyone of my friends and use them again.

Demo work in New Canaan

Junk removal and demolition go together. About a third of our New Canaan dispatches involve some demo before the haul — kitchen cabinets coming out before the gut renovation, an old deck that needs to come down before the lumber gets hauled, a backyard shed that’s done its time. We do both in one job, one crew, one invoice.

Common New Canaan combo jobs: kitchen demo + appliance haul, deck teardown + lumber removal, shed demolition + debris hauling, basement gut work with the debris pulled the same day. Demo work is quoted separately — pricing varies by scope — but we can schedule both on the same truck visit.

Junk removal FAQs — New Canaan

Can I get a single-piece pickup in New Canaan for under $145?
Sometimes, but not as a standard offering. Standalone single-piece dispatches land at the $145 truck-load minimum. Where we're already running a nearby route, we occasionally slot in a small add-on stop at a lower rate — one recent New Canaan single-desk pickup ran at $95 that way. Call and we'll tell you honestly whether the schedule day supports it.
Do you handle bedroom-set + full-office clears together?
Yes. A recent New Canaan job pulled two box springs, two mattresses, a bed frame, a computer desk, and a sofa in one dispatch at $295. Mixed bedroom + home-office scopes are common on downsizings and post-college moves.
How do you handle access on Smith Ridge / Ponus Ridge long driveways?
Standard work for us — Smith Ridge, Ponus Ridge, and Country Club Road all have homes set back behind mature canopy. We don't surcharge for long driveways within the dispatch envelope. Tell us about gates or low-clearance approaches at booking and we'll plan the truck approach.
Will you take an old hot tub from a New Canaan property?
Yes — hot tub removals are a regular call, including on Harvard Five-era homes where we take extra care with cork floors, glass walls, and tight hallways. The blog has a full operator-voice walkthrough of [hot tub removal cost in CT](/blog/hot-tub-removal-cost-connecticut).
What's the cheapest junk removal job you'll take in New Canaan?
Our minimum charge is $145 — covers a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb. Anything that fits in less than 1/8 of our truck. For very small jobs, that's the floor. Larger jobs scale up by truck-space used, all the way to $795 for a full 20-cubic-yard load.
What can't go in your trucks?
Hazardous waste — paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazardous material. Lithium and other batteries. CT and NY both run household hazardous-waste programs through most municipalities; we'll point you to the right channel for anything we can't take. Refrigerators, freezers, ACs, and dehumidifiers are fine, but the refrigerant has to be removed (or already removed) per EPA rules — we can document this on pickup.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
Not always — depends on the job. For interior cleanouts where the crew needs access through the house, yes. For driveway, garage, or yard pickups where items are already accessible, often no — we coordinate on the call. Estate cleanouts and tenant-out scenarios where the family or property manager isn't on-site work fine if access and scope are pre-confirmed.
How fast can you come to New Canaan?
Same-day before 11 AM is the standard target for in-area dispatch. After 11 AM, next-day is realistic. Same-day after 11 AM or on weekends is sometimes possible if the schedule allows — call (203) 219-8855, Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM live, AI after-hours and weekends, to ask.
