The 20-yard is the size for whole-house work: a renovation that takes walls down, an estate cleanout with every room full, a roof of real size. It has 4,000 lbs included, so most of those jobs finish inside the allowance.
It's also the size people under-order. Running out of space halfway through means a second haul, and that costs more than ordering a 20 in the first place.
Jobs that fit a 20-yard
- A full-house cleanout or estate cleanout, furniture and contents from every room.
- A gut renovation of a kitchen plus a bath, or a whole floor.
- A roof tear-off of about 13 squares within the 4,000-lb allowance.
- An addition or a large deck coming down.
- Contractor work that runs a week, where you'd rather not stop for a swap.

- Weight past the allowance bills at $0.10 per pound

Sizing by weight, not just space
A 20-yard filled with furniture and boxes stays well under 4,000 lbs. The same space filled with shingles, plaster or tile doesn't. For heavy debris, count the weight: about 13 squares of roofing reaches the allowance. Past it is $0.10 per pound, billed at cost. For the very largest jobs, the 30/40-yard tier carries 6,000 lbs.
How booking works in Westchester
There's no online checkout for Westchester. You send a lock-in request with your address, date and size, and the $747 price is held. Our office calls you during business hours (Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM) to confirm your order and take payment by phone. Credit card only. Your dumpster is booked once payment is confirmed.
Next-day delivery or service is standard. Same-day is sometimes possible. Call before 10 AM to check. You still call Grizzly. Our office handles your booking, pricing, and follow-up.
Placement. A driveway drop usually needs no permit. If the dumpster has to sit on the street, check with your village, town or city about a permit before delivery day, and mention it in your request.
Not accepted. The same materials rules as Connecticut apply: no concrete, brick, asphalt pavement, dirt, rock or stumps. The full list of what can't go in a dumpster covers the rest. Grizzly Bags aren't offered in New York; for a small pile, junk removal is the other option.
20-Yard dumpster questions from Westchester
Is a 20-yard enough for an estate cleanout?
For most houses, yes. A full house of furniture and contents is light for its size, so the 4,000-lb allowance rarely runs out. Very large houses, or estates with a barn or outbuildings to clear too, may need the 30/40-yard tier.
How big a roof fits in a 20-yard?
About 13 squares of asphalt shingles (1,300 square feet of roof) before the 4,000-lb allowance is used. Extra weight is $0.10 per pound.
Do I need a permit for a 20-yard in Westchester?
A driveway drop usually doesn't need one. If it has to go on the street, check with your village, town or city about a permit before delivery and mention it in your lock-in request.
How do I pay for a Westchester dumpster?
By phone, credit card only. Send the lock-in request, and our office calls you during business hours to confirm the details and take payment. The dumpster is booked once payment is confirmed.
