Five days, then the meter math
The permit fee covers a period of up to five days. On top of it, the Village charges per day for every parking meter the dumpster blocks, and it holds a deposit against any damage the placement causes. The figures are in the FAQ.
Two things follow. A box that sits in front of a row of meters costs more each day it stays, so plan the loud part of the job for the permit window and have the container picked up when that's done. And if the box can go on your own driveway instead, the meter charges don't apply at all. Tell us which you're planning when you book, and we'll set the drop-off and pickup dates around it.
What the Village's curbside pickup covers
The Village's 2026 sanitation calendar lists bulk garbage as something that can go out on your regular garbage day, with a call to the Highway Department to confirm. Right next to it, in capitals: "NO Construction Debris."
Metal is handled separately. Appliances, tire rims, boilers, metal wheel covers and hubcaps go out every Wednesday, by appointment only, and the same goes for electronics like computers, phones and TVs. Both are marked "Residents Only, No Contractors."
That last line matters on a remodel. If a contractor is pulling out your old boiler and the kitchen with it, the Village pickup isn't built for that load, and the debris has to leave some other way.
Matching the box to the work
For a short street permit, smaller is easier: a 10-yard fills fast on a tile or plaster job, so it's out before the days add up. On a driveway with room to spare, a 15 or 20 gives a cleanout or a multi-room remodel space without a second haul.
