Pelham Manor rewrote its refuse rules in 2025, and the line about renovations didn't soften. The Village's Refuse Collection Regulations, approved by the Board of Trustees that July, say construction or renovation wastes "will not be collected." The schedule side of the same document gets shorter still: no collection, "engage private contractor."
Where the line falls
The Village does take household discards from the roadside on its schedule: old furniture, clothes dryers, toys, things too big for a can. Mattresses have to be wrapped in plastic. It keeps the right to cap that service each week (the limit is in the FAQ), and it excludes construction debris and appliances from the discards category outright.
So a family clearing out a few rooms of furniture may be able to get it done at the curb over a few weeks. A kitchen being replaced can't. Neither can a deck, a run of fence or a pile of old siding.
Projects that pull a permit usually make debris
The Village's Building Permits page lists work that needs a permit, and most of it leaves something behind: window replacement, exterior siding, interior walls, plumbing fixtures, kitchen cabinets and countertops, a fence, a shed or a deck. If your project is on that list, you'll have the building permit in hand, and the old material still needs somewhere to go.
The street question
We searched the Village's website and didn't find a dumpster or street-container permit. A driveway placement avoids the question. If the container has to go in the road, call Village Hall before the delivery date (contact in the FAQ) and ask what it needs.
The Spring Road Recycle Center
The Village runs a drop-off recycle center at the end of Spring Road, off Boston Post Road just past the Hutchinson River Parkway overpass. It takes paper, commingled recycling and e-waste, three mornings a week. Old electronics belong there, not in a roll-off. Appliances and metal still follow the monthly curbside Public Works schedule.
Size
Siding or a deck tear-off fills a 15 or 20 quickly. A shed's worth of stored junk is often a 10.
