Two governments share the Ossining name. The Village of Ossining runs its own DPW and its own collection calendar for people inside its corporate limits. The Town of Ossining handles collection in the unincorporated area, with its Highway Department as the contact. Before you book, work out which side of that line your house is on, because the trash rules are different.
Inside the Village
The Village's 2026 recycling and collection calendar splits the Village into two zones. Each zone gets a weekly bulk day and a separate weekly day for bulk metal and electronics, and appliances, TVs and computer monitors go to the curb on that metal day. The set-out window is strict, and the Building Department can fine you for the wrong day. Days and times are in the FAQ.
That works well for a cleanout done a little at a time. A full renovation is another matter. Check with the Village before a container goes on a Village street.
In the unincorporated Town
The Town Highway Department page says plainly that the Town's carter "will not pickup any construction debris (i.e., sheetrock, concrete, etc.)". The same page sets out yard waste collection for homeowners in the unincorporated area. Its mailing address reads Briarcliff, but it's a Town of Ossining office, not part of the Village of Briarcliff Manor.
We didn't find a dumpster permit on the Town's site. A driveway placement is the simple route; for a Town road, call Highway first.
Taking something down
Demolition in the Town needs a permit from the Building Department, which posts its Demolition Application and Requirements. Sheetrock, concrete and framing from a teardown add up quickly in weight. Per the Village's 2026 calendar, Zone 1 has bulk pickup on Monday and bulk metal and electronics on Thursday; Zone 2 has bulk on Tuesday and bulk metal and electronics on Friday.
