Briarcliff Manor's Village DPW takes care of a lot, and it publishes the rules. The useful thing for a project is knowing which pieces of a cleanout the Village will take off your hands and which ones you'll need a container for.
Metal and electronics
The Village's garbage and recycling policies send all metal and electronic waste through an appointment on your Recycle Wednesday. Big pieces carry a pickup fee, and a higher one if the job takes extra hands. There's a free alternative: haul it yourself to the DPW yard on Buckhout Road on a weekday. So if your cleanout is mostly an old washer, a dead treadmill and some monitors, the Village may be all you need. On a bigger job, let the Village take those and save the container's space for everything else.
A box in the street
We didn't find a dumpster or container permit in the Village's DPW fee schedule or its Building forms. What the DPW does publish is an excavation and road opening permit, which is for digging, not for parking a container. On a driveway, there's nothing to file that we found. If a street spot is your only option, ask the Department of Public Works before delivery day.
Renovations and teardowns
Plans and permits for building work go through the Building & Engineering Department on Pleasantville Road. Sort out the permit side there, then pick a size. A deck tear-off and a full kitchen land in different containers, and we'd rather size it right the first time than swap mid-job.
