The Village of Pleasantville has a dumpster permit in writing, with its own application form. That makes planning easier. You know who to ask, what they want to see, and who signs it.
The Village dumpster permit
The Dumpster Permit Application asks three things: where the container will sit, what size it is, and the dates you expect it there. Two people sign off, the Building Inspector and the Police Chief. Leave room in your schedule for both. The fee comes from the Village's Master Fee Schedule, and the residential figure is in the FAQ.
The form goes through the Building Department, which also handles demolition permits. Get the size and dates settled with us first, so the numbers on your application match the box that shows up.
Road work is a separate office
If the job digs into the road for a water or sewer connection or a new sidewalk, that permit comes from the Department of Public Works, not Building. It is a separate application from the dumpster permit.
What DPW hauls and what it doesn't
The Village DPW handles all curbside garbage, recycling, organic waste and bulk pickup, per its schedule look-up page. The 2026 sanitation schedule is blunt about the limit, in capital letters: "CONSTRUCTION/DEMOLITION DEBRIS IS NOT COLLECTED BY DPW." Old furniture can wait for bulk day. Torn-out drywall and flooring can't.
For a single-room remodel, the smallest box usually does it. A whole-floor gut job is where a mid-size or larger container earns its spot on the permit.
