Bronxville runs its own public works, separate from the Town of Eastchester around it, and it has its own paperwork for a container in the street. The Village's Streets and Sidewalks page says it in one line: dumpsters placed in the street require a permit.

The roll-off application

The Village's Roll Off Container Application asks for more than a signature. There's a deposit and a fee, insurance certificates that name the Village as additional insured, workers' compensation coverage, and a site plan showing where the container will sit. The Superintendent of Public Works signs off. The figures are in the FAQ.

A box on your own driveway skips the application, and that's where we'll aim to put it. If the street is the only spot, Grizzly confirms the application and the certificates it calls for before any street placement.

Weekday work only

The Building Department limits construction, demolition and repair work to weekday daytime hours, with nothing on weekends or holidays. If you were planning to fill a container yourself over a couple of Saturdays, that rule applies to the demolition part of the job. The same page puts normal building review at about 3 weeks, so a permitted project has a lead time before any container shows up.

Bulk is free in 2026, within limits

New this year, bulk waste goes out on your second garbage day each week at no cost and with no request: Thursdays for Monday/Thursday households, Fridays for Tuesday/Friday. That's a good deal for a chair or a rug. The Village is also clear about its limits. It's meant for "a limited number of items," and residents with multiple items "should consider contacting a waste disposal company."

Construction debris is out, and the list is long: wood, bricks, plumbing fixtures, tiles, windows and frames, sheetrock, concrete, stone. Bath tubs and water heaters are refused too. Electronics and appliances only go out in one week each month (details in the FAQ).

One thing to check first: some Yonkers addresses carry a Bronxville post office, and the Village doesn't pick up there. If yours is one of them, the Yonkers page has your City's rules.

Choosing a size

Furniture and boxes from an apartment or a few rooms usually fit a 10. Tile and plaster from a bathroom gut are dense, so a 15 is a safer call than squeezing into the smallest box.

What customers in Bronxville are saying

  • Y
“Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”

“Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”

“It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
