Tuckahoe's dumpster permit is a Building Department form, not a Public Works one, and it asks one question to plan around: will the dumpster be taken off the street every night and put back each work day? If the answer is no, it has to have danger lights. That's the posted Dumpster Permit form, linked from the Village's Forms and Permit Information page.
What the permit form asks for
The form wants the exact location on the street, proof of insurance, an application fee, a security deposit and a daily charge once the dumpster has been out past its first few days. Two people sign it: the Building Inspector and the Police Chief. The Village sets the amounts, so get them from the Building Department when you file.
A roll-off doesn't come off the street each night. Plan on the lights, or on a driveway.
Debris is your job, not the Village's
The Village's sanitation summary puts bulk pickup on Tuesdays and adds, in parentheses, that construction debris is to be discarded privately. The longer reference guide spells out what that means: lumber, sheet rock, plaster, tiles, cement, cabinets, counter tops, roofing, windows, insulation, and ceramic sinks and toilets. Sofas, dressers and mattresses do qualify for bulk, as long as each mattress or box spring is sealed in a plastic bag.
The DPW on Marbledale Road
Tuckahoe's Department of Public Works facility on Marbledale Road is a drop-off for a short list: metals, e-waste, used oil, food scraps, clothing, plastic bags, rechargeable batteries and certain furniture for the needy. It's not a debris site. The guide says car batteries, tires, dirt, rocks, masonry and any contractor debris won't be picked up by the DPW.
Metal and yard waste go curbside on Thursdays for most of the year. From October through December, metal stops at the curb and goes to the DPW facility by appointment instead (details in the FAQ).
How big
For a single room, a 10-yard is usually enough. A kitchen with cabinets and counters, or a roof's worth of shingles, calls for more, so ask before you book.

What customers in Tuckahoe are saying
Y “Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”
Y “Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”
Y “It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
Tuckahoe dumpster rental FAQs
What does a Tuckahoe dumpster permit cost?
The Village sets the fee, the deposit and the daily charge; the Department of Buildings has the current amounts. On the form you give the exact street location, say whether the dumpster comes off the street each night, and submit proof of insurance. The Building Inspector and the Police Chief both sign.
Where do I get the dumpster permit?
From the Department of Buildings at Village Hall, 65 Main Street, 2nd floor, Room 200, (914) 961-8148. It's open Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, closed for lunch from noon to 1:00 PM.
Can I put a refrigerator out in November?
Not at the curb. Tuckahoe doesn't collect metal curbside in October, November or December; you drop it off at the DPW facility instead, by appointment. Call the DPW at (914) 231-0214 to schedule. Refrigerator and oven doors must be removed.
How fast can a dumpster get to Tuckahoe?
Next-day delivery or service is standard. Same-day is sometimes possible. Call before 10 AM to check. (203) 219-8855.
Why is Tuckahoe pricing $100 higher than Connecticut?
Licensed and insured in Connecticut. Westchester service is performed by licensed, insured local partners, coordinated by Grizzly. The $100 partner-service rate covers that. The weight allowance, rental window and overage rates are the same as in Connecticut.
