In Sleepy Hollow a container on the street is the Village Clerk's business. The Clerk's permits page lists a Dumpster Permit, and the Dumpster/Container Permit Application asks for more than a name and a date.
Five days on the street, then it moves
The form caps the request at "5 days maximum." It wants the exact spot: meter number, distance from the nearest intersection or driveway, and a map if needed. Before the Village grants it, you provide a certificate of insurance and pay a deposit plus a daily charge up front (amounts in the FAQ). A Police Department reviewing officer and the Superintendent of Public Works both sign off. The container "must have flashing lights or barricades with flashing lights."
The deposit comes back after you show the Village the box is gone. The Clerk's page asks for proof of both delivery and pickup, so keep the dates.
Five days is tight for a renovation. If the work will run longer, look for room off the street, and ask the Clerk whether that spot needs anything from the Village.
Appliances need a sticker
The Village takes appliances curbside, but not for free. Its appliance and electronics page says air conditioners, washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, microwaves, water heaters and dishwashers each need a permit sticker from the Village Clerk. Electronics, from TVs and computers to anything with a power cord, are picked up on regular garbage days.
If you're replacing one appliance, the sticker is the simpler route and we'd point you to it. If the whole kitchen is coming out, ask us before an appliance goes in the container with the cabinets.
Picking a size for a five-day window
On a street permit, the box has to be filled and gone inside the window, so size it to the job rather than guessing small and needing a second one. A 10 handles a bathroom; a 15 or 20 fits a kitchen or a basement cleanout.

What customers in Sleepy Hollow are saying
Y “Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”
Y “Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”
Y “It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
