Norfolk is famous for two things: a village green that belongs on a postcard, and weather that belongs in Vermont. The icebox of Connecticut sits high enough that winter arrives early, leaves late, and ignores whatever the forecast says about the coastline. Around the green, the housing is remarkable — big 19th-century summer houses from Norfolk's resort era, many still owned as second homes — and when one of those changes hands or gets its century-overdue renovation, the cleanout is a serious piece of work.
We're straight about what serving Norfolk means: this is the far edge of our delivery map, about 80 minutes from our West Haven yard via Route 8 and Route 44. Next-day windows are the only kind we book here, and in winter even those come with a morning-of confirmation call. Same rates as everywhere, though — the drive is our cost, not yours.
Prices
$447 — 10-yard. $547 — 15-yard. $647 — 20-yard. $899 — the 30/40 tier, delivered as two 20-yard cans, together or in sequence. Each includes delivery, pickup, disposal, and 7 rental days. Weight allowances: 1,000 / 2,000 / 4,000 / 6,000 lbs. Overage $0.10/lb; extension days $15.
The summer-house cleanout
Norfolk's signature job. A resort-era house that's been in one family for generations empties slowly and heavily — horsehair plaster from renovation, oak and iron furniture, trunks and tools from attics with real square footage. Two practical notes: book the 20-yard or larger, because this debris is dense; and plan on the $15/day extension rather than rushing decisions about a century of belongings.
Getting a truck up your road
Norfolk driveways are long, gravel, and shaded — all fine when firm. Our can is a 22-foot box, about the length of a full-size pickup truck, and the truck needs overhead room to tip it off. The only hard no is soft ground: mud season and fresh thaw can make a field-edge placement impossible for a week. Photos of the approach to (203) 219-8855 sort it before the drive.
Alternatives for small loads
For anything under a couple of pickup loads, ask the town what resident disposal exists before renting. At this distance especially, we'd rather you use the right-sized tool than pay our minimum for three bags.

What customers in Norfolk are saying
Y “Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”
Y “Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”
Y “It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
