The Town of Canaan is the one everybody gets wrong. Its village is Falls Village — a couple of streets of 19th-century houses near the Great Falls of the Housatonic, population around eleven hundred, one of the smallest municipalities in Connecticut. The busier Canaan village up at the depot crossroads belongs to the Town of North Canaan, a separate page and a separate town government. We put the distinction at the top because a roll-off delivered to the wrong Canaan is a ninety-minute mistake nobody enjoys.
What calls us out here: estate and camp cleanouts on the river and hill roads, renovations of Falls Village's compact old housing stock, and farm properties along the Route 7 corridor. The run from our West Haven yard is close to 90 minutes — the outer edge of our map — so scheduling is next-day windows only, confirmed and kept, with winter mornings getting a road-check call before the truck commits.
Rates don't shrink with the town
$447 for the 10-yard, $547 for the 15, $647 for the 20, $899 for the 30/40 tier as two 20-yard cans. Delivery, pickup, disposal, 7 days: all inside. The distance is our cost of doing business in the corner — it never appears on your invoice.
Small village, old houses, dense debris
Falls Village housing is compact but vintage, and vintage demo is heavy — plaster, hardwood, iron radiators. On volume alone these jobs read like 15-yards; on the scale they're 20-yards. Since every can we run is the identical 22-foot box, the honest advice is to buy the 4,000-lb allowance and skip the overage math. When the debris is light — furniture, camp contents — the 15 at $547 is the right-sized call.
Placement between river and hills
Village lots are snug; river and farm properties are roomy but soft-edged in wet seasons. The checklist never changes: firm ground, clearance overhead for the tip-off, planks under wheels off pavement. Text the approach photos to (203) 219-8855 — at this distance we double-check placement before every first delivery.
The right tool for small piles
One truckload of odds and ends? Ask the town office what resident disposal exists locally before renting a can from ninety minutes away. We say this on every edge-of-map page because it's true on every one: the roll-off wins on room-sized jobs, not bag-sized ones.
Neighbors in the corner
North Canaan north at the depot, Salisbury west, Sharon southwest, Cornwall south along Route 7, and Norfolk northeast. Same rates everywhere: How Pricing Works.

What customers in Canaan are saying
Y “Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”
Y “Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”
Y “It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
