Whole-Home Cleanout in Greenwich, CT

Multi-load, scheduled around your date. Fairfield County.

Cleanout services by Grizzly Junk Pros

By the time somebody in Greenwich calls us about a whole property, the sorting has usually already happened in their head. They know what's coming with them and what isn't. What they don't have is a way to move four or five truckloads of "isn't" out of a building in the days they have left. That's the job — volume against a deadline, with the owner right there making the calls.

Clearing a whole property in Greenwich

A Greenwich whole-property clear is usually five or six loads and almost always more than one day. Backcountry, Round Hill and Mid-Country houses sit well back from the road, so the distance from door to staging point sets the pace more than the room count does. Belle Haven, Field Point Park and Lucas Point add gated or association access that has to be arranged before anyone arrives. Old Greenwich, Riverside and Cos Cob are more conventional, with driveways that take a truck and a container side by side. Byram, Glenville and Pemberwick run smaller and denser — often a single long day. Outbuildings are common on the larger parcels and routinely add a load nobody counted.

We work across Downtown Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside and Cos Cob, in a town of about 63,500.

We have 2,011 job records in Greenwich since 2019 — dumpster drops, junk removal and cleanouts of every kind, not whole-home jobs specifically.

How a whole-property clear runs

Walk it, then commit to days. Whole-home is the one job where the estimate is a schedule, not just a price. We count truckloads, look at the access, and tell you how many days it takes before you book anything.

Rooms in sequence, not everything at once. We start furthest from the door and work toward it, so the path out stays clear and the last load is the shortest carry. On multi-day jobs we finish whole rooms rather than skimming the house — you get usable space back each evening.

You're there, and that's the point. Unlike an estate job, the person who knows the house is standing in it. We check before anything ambiguous goes on the truck, and changing your mind mid-room costs nothing.

Around the movers, not into them. If a moving company is coming, we clear before or after but not during. Two crews in one stairwell is how things get broken.

Cost

A full property runs three to six truckloads. A full truck is $979; partial loads step down the ladder, with a 1/2 truckload (~10 yd³) at $559.

The honest comparison at this size is against a container. A 20-yard roll-off is $647 with 4,000 lbs included and 7 days to fill it; overage past the allowance is $0.1/lb at the transfer-station rate. If you have people and time, a can alone is the cheapest way to empty a house. If you have neither, the crew is the point. Most whole-home jobs we run are the middle option — crew and can together.

No flat price. The load count comes from the walkthrough and the number comes from the load count.

The date drives everything

Tell us the deadline at the walkthrough and we schedule backwards from it rather than forwards from today.

Moving companies. We work either side of them. Never the same day — two crews in one stairwell is how furniture gets damaged and nobody can say by whom.

Closing dates. A pre-closing walkthrough needs the house genuinely empty, so we plan to finish a day early rather than on the day.

Managed buildings. Elevator bookings, dock windows, certificates of insurance. Common in the denser parts of our service area, and easier if we talk to the building directly.

Weather. On multi-day jobs with a container on site, we tarp between days rather than let a week of rain add weight you'll be billed for.

Whole-home questions, Greenwich

How many days does a whole-home cleanout in Greenwich take?
Two to four working days for a typical full property, one for a condo or a small house. The walkthrough turns that range into a schedule — we give you a load count and a day count in writing before you commit, because on this size of job the schedule matters as much as the price.
Can you work around my moving company?
Yes, and we insist on it — before them or after them, never the same day. Two crews in one stairwell is how furniture gets damaged and nobody can say by whom. If your dates are tight, the day before the move is usually the right slot, so the movers only handle what's actually going.
Is a dumpster cheaper than the crew for a whole house?
If you have people and time, yes — a 20-yard at $647 is the cheapest way to empty a house, because you're supplying the labour. Most whole-home jobs we run use both: the can absorbs bulk on the driveway while the crew keeps carrying, which past about four loads beats sending the truck to a transfer station and back repeatedly.
Is there a flat price for a whole house?
No. It's truck space like every other job — a full load is $979 and a typical property is three to six of them, plus partials down the ladder. Anyone quoting a flat whole-house figure before walking it is padding for their own uncertainty and you'd be paying for it.
What if I change my mind about something mid-job?
Expected, and free. You're in the house while we work — that's the normal shape of this job — so the crew asks before anything ambiguous goes on the truck and reversing a decision costs nothing.
