Let's start with the caveat, because it's the most honest sentence on this page: when we phone-shopped Connecticut's dumpster market in August 2026, we reached two roll-off operators in Litchfield County and two in New London County — four datapoints, not a market study. Two operators reached — small sample; treat these as datapoints, not a market.
That thinness is the story. The same survey put 11 operators on the board in Fairfield County alone. Out in the northwest hills and along the eastern shoreline, the phone book runs short, and what quotes exist behave the way thin markets always do — wider spreads, stranger structures, and more reward for the customer who makes one extra call. We're publishing every quote we collected, exactly as given, because two datapoints honestly labeled beat a made-up average every time.
Litchfield County: two quotes, a wide gap
The two Litchfield quotes barely look like the same industry. LC-1 prices by the day — a menu no metro operator quoted us — with a 10-yard running $355, $390, or $450 for one, three, or seven days, and its ladder topping out at a 40-yard for $700 to $800. If your project is genuinely a one-day affair, that structure is worth something real: you stop paying for days you don't use.
LC-2 sits at the other pole: a 20-yard at $890 for 10 days — the steepest 20-yard quote in our entire statewide survey — with overage at $175/T and extra days at $80, also the survey's steepest (phone survey of 25 Connecticut operators, August 2026). We're not naming anyone and we're not calling anyone wrong; hauling economics in the hills are genuinely harder — longer hauls, fewer transfer stations, trucks that spend more of the day on Route 8 than at the job. But the gap between these two quotes for the same can size, in the same county, in the same month, is the practical lesson: out here, the second phone call has the highest return on investment in Connecticut.

New London County: pricing by the week, and a size nobody else runs
The eastern quotes are structurally different again. Two operators reached — small sample; treat these as datapoints, not a market.
NL-1 prices by the week rather than the day: a 20-yard at $555 for one week or $615 for two, with 2 tons included — and it runs a 25-yard, a size no other operator in our survey offers anywhere in the state. Notably, it quoted us no overage rate at all; if you call, ask what happens at the scale, because "we didn't discuss it" is not a rate. NL-2 doesn't quote full-size roll-offs at all — its business is small 4-8 yard cans at $297-969 with overage at $135/T, which for a tight shoreline driveway or a single-room cleanout may be exactly the right tool.

Where a deep market lets you comparison-shop your way to safety, a thin one makes structure literacy do the work. Three statewide yardsticks to carry into any northwest-hills or shoreline phone call:
- Overage: the statewide survey found range $126-200/ton, median ~$150/ton, with per-ton quotes clustering between $126-135/ton and $160-175/ton (phone survey of 25 Connecticut operators, August 2026). A quote well above the band should come with an explanation — sometimes there is one, like a long haul to the nearest scale.
