Junk removal in Guilford is a crew job: we bring a 20-yard truck and two people, you point at what goes, and the price is confirmed before anything is loaded. Guilford Center and the older stock around Nut Plains and Long Hill have small doorways, narrow staircases and full attics — the combination that makes a modest house take longer to clear than a larger modern one. That shapes what a typical Guilford dispatch looks like more than anything else does — the sizes we send, the number of visits, and whether a can on the driveway makes more sense than a second truck run. Everything below is the detail: the tiers, what we take, what we don't, and where Guilford's own municipal disposal options sit if you'd rather haul it yourself.

What Guilford jobs tend to look like

Guilford Center and the older stock around Nut Plains and Long Hill have small doorways, narrow staircases and full attics — the combination that makes a modest house take longer to clear than a larger modern one. Sachem's Head, Mulberry Point and Leetes Island add shore properties, some of them long-held. North Guilford is rural, with larger parcels and the outbuildings that come with them. Three genuinely different jobs share one town name here, and the crew size we send depends on which.

The truck and the crew

One 20 cubic yard truck, two people, and no expectation that you touch any of it. That's four to five cubic yards more than the 15-to-17-yard trucks most of this industry runs, and the extra volume is why a job that would take somebody else two dispatches usually takes us one. The tiers below are measured against that truck, so the sizing math stays honest across every job we quote.

Same-day junk removal in Guilford

Had my couch out in on quick trip.
Tracy R., Guilford review

Same-day service when booked before 11 AM and a truck is available; next-day is standard.

In practice that means Guilford is usually reachable on the day’s routes when the call lands early and a truck has room left in it. After the cutoff, or on mornings the trucks go out full, the honest answer is next-day — and we say so on the phone rather than overbook. Either way you get a real arrival window at booking, not a callback. New Haven County dispatch runs Mon–Sat 8 AM – 4 PM.

Common Guilford junk removal calls

Guilford Center attic and stair clear-outs

The historic-district houses have narrow staircases and full attics, and that combination is why a Guilford Center job takes longer than its square footage predicts. We size the crew for the carry rather than the pile.

Sachem's Head and Leetes Island shore properties

Long-held shore houses where the contents are generational rather than recent. Usually more volume than the footprint suggests, and often a garage or shed holding its own share.

North Guilford outbuilding clears

Larger rural parcels where the barn or detached garage is a separate job from the house — tools, materials and equipment rather than household goods, which is a slower sort.

Pricing, and how the tiers work

Thirteen steps between $179 and $979, measured as a share of the truck rather than as a count of items. A room full of light bulky furniture and a room full of dense boxes can price the same, because the truck doesn't care which one it is.

  • $179 minimum — a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb
  • $359 — quarter truck — typical garage cleanout or partial basement
  • $559 — half truck — apartment-sized cleanout, single-room renovation debris
  • $809 — three-quarter truck — single-family decluttering, large estate room
  • $979 — full 20-yard truck — full-property cleanouts, whole-home work

Nothing gets loaded before you have the tier. That ordering is deliberate — a price agreed after the truck is full isn't really a price.

The full 13-tier ladder — Guilford

When loading the dumpster yourself isn’t the right call — small volume, awkward access, or you just want it gone today — we send a crew. Pricing runs by truck space used, not by item. Final pricing confirmed before removal begins.

  • Minimum Load$179
  • 1/8 Truckload$239
  • 1/6 Truckload$309
  • 1/4 Truckload (~5 yd³)$359
  • 1/3 Truckload$419
  • 3/8 Truckload$489
  • 1/2 Truckload (~10 yd³)$559
  • 5/8 Truckload$659
  • 2/3 Truckload$759
  • 3/4 Truckload (~15 yd³)$809
  • 5/6 Truckload$849
  • 7/8 Truckload$919
  • Full Truckload (~20 yd³)$979

Scheduling was easy. Guys were great and nice. Had my couch out in on quick trip. Would definitely recommend!

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

Demo work in Guilford

Demolition and hauling are the same job more often than not. The structure has to come down before anything can be carried out, and splitting that across two companies means two schedules, two quotes and an argument about who cleans up. We do the taking-apart and the taking-away together.

Typical work: gutting a kitchen ahead of a renovation, dropping a deck and loading the lumber, dismantling a shed and clearing the pad, stripping a basement and pulling the debris the same afternoon. The demo side is priced separately from the haul because scope drives it — but it's one crew and one visit.

Junk removal FAQs — Guilford

Can I just take it to the Guilford transfer station myself?
You can — it's at 1900 Boston Post Road, open Monday through Saturday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, and patrons are asked to arrive by 3:00 pm. Worth knowing before you load the car: Guilford runs Pay-As-You-Throw, so you buy town-official bags at retail locations around Guilford and Madison rather than paying at the gate. For a couple of bags that's cheaper than us. For a garage, it isn't.
Is the Guilford station shared with Madison?
Yes — it's the Guilford/Madison facility, and it operates under CT DEEP permit #0600907-MTSGP. Madison residents use the same site, which is why it's busier on a Saturday morning than a town of Guilford's size would suggest.
Do you handle the narrow-staircase houses in the historic district?
That's most of what we do in Guilford Center. Two-man crew, everything carried rather than dragged, and we protect the stair treads and door frames on the way out. It's slower work and we price it by truck space like everything else, so the slowness costs you nothing extra.
When is the Guilford transfer station open?
The town posts Regular Operating Hours: Monday – Saturday 7:00 am-3:30 pm (‘Patrons should arrive by 3:00 pm’). Holiday closures apply — check the town's page before you load, or skip the trip entirely and let the can take the schedule problem off your plate.
What's the cheapest junk removal job you'll take in Guilford?
Our minimum charge is $179 — covers a single mattress, an old appliance, a small pile of junk by the curb. Anything that fits in less than 1/8 of our truck. For very small jobs, that's the floor. Larger jobs scale up by truck-space used, all the way to $979 for a full 20-cubic-yard load.
What can't go in your trucks?
Hazardous waste — paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazardous material. Lithium and other batteries. CT and NY both run household hazardous-waste programs through most municipalities; we'll point you to the right channel for anything we can't take. Refrigerators, freezers, ACs, and dehumidifiers are fine, but the refrigerant has to be removed (or already removed) per EPA rules — we can document this on pickup.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
Not always — depends on the job. For interior cleanouts where the crew needs access through the house, yes. For driveway, garage, or yard pickups where items are already accessible, often no — we coordinate on the call. Estate cleanouts and tenant-out scenarios where the family or property manager isn't on-site work fine if access and scope are pre-confirmed.
How fast can you come to Guilford?
Same-day before 11 AM is the standard target for in-area dispatch. After 11 AM, next-day is realistic. Same-day after 11 AM or on weekends is sometimes possible if the schedule allows — call (203) 219-8855, Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM live, AI after-hours and weekends, to ask.
