The Village of Larchmont puts a dumpster on a Village street or lot under one form, the DPW/Right-of-Way Permit Application. It's the same application used for street and sidewalk openings, scaffolding, ladders and curb cuts, and you tick the box for a dumpster on Village property or right of way. It's filed with the Building Department on Larchmont Avenue.
What the form asks for
The office-use section is the part to plan around. The Village checks for liability insurance, workers' compensation, disability coverage and a Westchester license, and the form carries an indemnity clause. Those are contractor papers, so we steer Larchmont jobs to the driveway where there is one. If the box has to go on Village property, Grizzly confirms the permit paperwork, and whose certificates go with it, before any street placement. The fee is charged per permit and per day, so a long job on the street costs more than a short one. Figures are in the FAQ.

Metal and the rest
The Village DPW collects metal furniture and large metal items itself, through a Special Metal Pickup Request on its sanitation and recycling page.

Taking down a structure
Residential demolition has its own line in the Village's building permit fee schedule, with an application fee and a permit fee scaled to the cost of construction. Book the container after the demolition permit and, if the box is going on the street, the right-of-way permit are both settled.
A tear-out in a tight lot is mostly a question of where the container fits. Measure the spot before you choose between the smaller and larger sizes.
