Every third backyard we work in has one: the hot tub nobody's turned on since the pandemic, lid bleached gray, holding either two feet of rainwater or a smell you don't want catalogued. How the pricing works: These are starting prices, and most jobs land here. Every one includes teardown, loading, hauling, and full disposal — no separate dump fee, no labor line added later. What moves the number up: size, how far the structure sits from where the truck can park, whether the crew has to carry debris through a gate or around a house, material, footings or a slab, and distance from our depots for jobs outside Fairfield and New Haven County. Concrete stays unless it's quoted. Send photos and we'll give you a real number — the price we quote is the price you pay, confirmed on site before anything comes down. We don't pull demo permits — that's the homeowner's responsibility when required.

Two tiers, and where the tub lives decides which one is yours. $695 is the on-grade floor: a tub sitting on a pad or pavers with a path a person can walk. $995 is the built-in floor — set into a deck, framed into a platform, or sunk into a vault, where the tub has to be freed before it can be cut. Both figures render live from the same canonical pricing data as the demolition hub, so this page can't quietly drift from the master list.
Between the floor and your final number, the walkthrough weighs three things: how long and how pinched the carry path is, how much structure has to open up, and how much of that structure you want gone for good. Draining, disposal, and metal recycling are all inside the fixed price — there's no dump-fee line waiting on the invoice.
One honest aside: if your tub genuinely still runs, list it free-for-the-hauling on the local marketplace for a week first. Three ways a tub leaves a yard
Cut-up in place is the default, and it's the right call for most Connecticut backyards. The shell and cabinet get sawed into carryable sections right where the tub sits, and the pieces walk out through the same gate you use. An empty six-person tub still weighs several hundred pounds in the least carryable shape ever molded — cutting it beats wrestling it past a stone wall, and the flowerbeds survive. Slide-out happens when the geography cooperates: tub on grade, wide path, no steps, trailer or truck close. We tip it, walk it on rollers or a dolly, and it leaves in one piece — the fastest version of the job, and the one to ask for if a buyer or a new pad is waiting for the tub somewhere else.
Crane-out is the specialty case — a tub on a raised deck or behind an obstacle course where neither cutting in place nor sliding makes sense, usually because the tub needs to survive intact. It's the least common of the three and the one that most needs a walkthrough first, since the crane's position decides everything.
Deck-set and sunken tubs add a step before any of that: freeing the shell. Deck boards up, framing released, sometimes working down inside a vault the original installer left zero clearance around. That access carpentry is the whole difference between the two pricing tiers — and if the platform's coming out anyway, that shades into deck removal and often makes more sense than patching around a tub-shaped hole.
Hot tub disposal: where the tub actually goes
"Disposal" on this job means more than a dump run. The cut sections ride out in our own trucks to licensed CT transfer stations, where the shell gets broken down as bulky waste and the cabinet lumber goes with the wood stream. The metal — heater housing, pump assemblies, frame fasteners, the copper in the equipment pack — gets pulled for scrap wherever the facility takes it, which is most of them.
Two things never ride with us: water and chemistry. The tub gets pumped on site as part of the job, routed somewhere on your property that isn't a foundation, a septic field, or the neighbor's yard — a freshly dead tub drains in minutes, a two-winter swamp takes longer and we'd rather know in advance. Leftover spa chemicals are household hazardous waste and belong at your town's HHW collection day, not in a truck bed.
What's left when we pull away: a swept pad or an opened deck section per whatever you chose at the walkthrough, and the best corner of your yard back.

How long does it take?
Most tubs are out in one to two hours — drain, disconnect verification, cut-down, load-out. Sunken and in-deck installs can run to most of a day depending on how much structure has to open first. Either way it's a one-visit job; we don't leave a half-cut tub sitting overnight.
Can you remove a hot tub that's built into a deck?
Usually, yes — deck-mounted tubs are our second pricing tier, starting at $995. The shell gets cut into sections in place, the frame unbolted, everything walked out. If freeing the tub means cutting structural deck framing, that becomes a deck-removal conversation and we quote both parts before anyone starts a saw. You choose whether we open just enough decking to extract the tub or take the whole platform while we're in there.
Do you take in-ground spas?
In-ground concrete and gunite spas are a different animal — removing one means excavation and fill, which we don't self-perform. That work is coordinated through our licensed demolition partner; every load of debris still goes out in our own dumpsters. The above-grade acrylic and rotomolded tubs — the vast majority of what's in CT backyards — are the ones this page covers, and those we handle start to finish.
Does the electrical need to be disconnected first?
Yes, before we touch it, and by a licensed electrician. Most full-size CT hot tubs run on a dedicated 50- or 60-amp 240-volt circuit, and disconnecting that feed at the source is electrician work, not hauler work. We cut and cap nothing electrical — the line must be dead and disconnected at the tub before we start. Plug-in 110V models are the easy exception: unplug it, show us the cord, done.
My backyard access is terrible. Is that a problem?
It's the normal condition. Narrow gates, slopes, stone walls, and a tub in the far corner are why cut-up in place is our default method — sections carry through any gate a person fits through. The walkthrough is mostly an access survey: we pace the path, count the pinch points, and price the carry honestly. A genuinely impossible path is rare; a path that rules out moving the tub whole is most of them.
Do you remove swim spas?
Yes. A swim spa is the same job with more of it — a longer shell, heavier equipment pack, and more sections to cut and carry. It prices from the same two tiers based on whether it sits on grade or in a deck, with the size reflected in the walkthrough quote. Tell us the length when you call so we plan the truck space.
What won't you take?
Leftover spa chemicals — chlorine, bromine, pH kits — are household hazardous waste and go to your town's HHW collection, not in our trucks. We also don't do the electrical or plumbing disconnects (licensed trades, verified before we start), and we don't break out concrete: an in-ground shell or a pad you want gone is coordinated through our licensed demolition partner. Everything else — shell, cabinet, cover, heater, pump, steps — rides out with us.

Had an old hot tub removed from the back patio. They had to cut it apart to get it out and somehow didn't make a disaster of the yard doing it. Nice crew too.
Old hot tub was basically falling apart. They got rid of the whole thing including the cover and steps. Good riddance lol.
