What Norwalk properties tend to hold
Norwalk splits harder than its neighbours. SoNo, South Norwalk, East Norwalk and the Wall Street area are dense, with street parking and multi-family buildings where stair carries factor into more estate jobs here than anywhere else in the county — the constraint is where the truck legally sits, not how much is in the house. Rowayton, Wilson Point and Silvermine are the opposite: larger properties, real driveways, ordinary three-to-five-load volume. West Norwalk, Cranbury, Wolfpit and Norwalk Heights sit between the two. The Connecticut Avenue corridor brings the occasional mixed-use or over-shop apartment, which is its own access conversation.

The walkthrough. Nothing gets quoted before someone has walked the property — with you, with an agent, or on a video call if you're out of state. This is where the load count comes from and where we flag anything that needs an answer other than a truck.
Sorting before hauling. The crew works a room at a time. Anything that might matter comes out and goes on a table rather than into the truck: documents, photographs, anything in a safe or lockbox, jewellery, military items, paperwork with account numbers on it. We're not appraisers and don't pretend to be — the test is "might a reasonable person want to look at this first," and a maybe means it gets set aside.
Donation routing. Furniture and household goods in usable condition can go to a charity partner instead of a transfer station. It doesn't cost less, because the labour is identical, but it's a better end for the goods and produces receipts where the charity issues them.
Multi-day work. A full house is usually two to four working days. We keep the same crew on it so the second morning doesn't start with re-explaining the basement, and we'll work to a listing date or a closing if you give us the deadline at the walkthrough.
What it costs
You pay for the space your things take in the truck. That's the whole model — the same ladder we use for a single-item pickup, applied to a house.

- 1/4 Truckload (~5 yd³) — $359. Small bedroom contents, or a few bulky items
- 1/2 Truckload (~10 yd³) — $559. Small apartment contents or several large furniture items
- Full Truckload (~20 yd³) — $979. Full home cleanout or major renovation debris
There is no flat price for a whole property, and an outfit that quotes you one hasn't seen it. Most estates run several loads across more than one day. The walkthrough is what turns that into a number: we count what's coming out, look at the carry, and write it down before anyone lifts anything. On larger properties we'll often put a 20-yard roll-off at $647 on the driveway and run it alongside the crew, so bulky material goes straight into the can instead of the truck making repeat trips.
Managing this from out of state
You do not need to fly in for a cleanout. Most of the executors we work with don't.
The walkthrough happens on video or gets documented in photographs, whichever suits you. The quote comes by email in writing. Access gets arranged with whoever has the key — an agent, an attorney, a family friend, a neighbour. Nothing gets thrown away without you having seen the set-aside pile, and payment comes after the job rather than before it. The invoice lists what left the property and where it went, which is usually what the probate file needs anyway.
