What Fairfield properties tend to hold
Fairfield covers more housing types than almost any town we work in. Fairfield Beach, Penfield Reef and Pine Creek include smaller shore properties that empty in a load or two. Greenfield Hill, Sasco Hill and Southport are large houses on large lots where five loads is normal and outbuildings appear. Stratfield, Holland Hill, Tunxis Hill and Mill Plain are conventional post-war single-family stock with basements and garages — predictable volume, good access. The Black Rock Turnpike corridor and Fairfield Center bring occasional apartments and over-shop units. Landlord estates turn up here more than elsewhere, and a rental property is a different job from a family home.

The process, and why it's this way
Estate work is slower than junk removal on purpose, and the reason is the sorting.
We walk it first. Always. A description over the phone has never once produced an accurate load count, and a low quote that doubles on day two helps nobody.
We sort before we haul. The crew moves room by room and pulls anything that looks like it should be a decision — documents, photographs, safes and lockboxes, jewellery, military items, anything printed with an account number. That pile goes on a table for you to go through. We're not valuers, so the standard is deliberately generous: if there's a question, it doesn't go on the truck.
We route donations where they'll take them. Usable goods to a charity partner rather than a transfer station. It costs the same in labour and it's simply a better ending.
We plan for more than one day. Full properties run two to four. Same crew throughout, and we'll build the schedule around a closing date if there is one.

Estates are priced the same way as everything else we do: by how much of the truck you fill, agreed before the crew starts. What's different is the count. A single room might be one load. A full house with a finished basement is rarely fewer than four, often more, and spread over two to four working days. Anyone quoting a flat "whole house" figure before walking it is guessing, and the guess is usually revised upward on day two. Where the volume justifies it, a 20-yard roll-off at $647 on site alongside the crew handles the bulk in parallel.

A good share of this work is for executors who live somewhere else. It's a normal arrangement, not a complication:
