South Windsor grew up in one generation. Tobacco fields east of the Connecticut River became Wapping's subdivisions through the sixties and seventies, and today the town is a grid of colonials and raised ranches — most of them now 50 or 60 years old, which in our business is the renovation sweet spot. Kitchens on their third cycle, finished basements from the Carter administration coming out, the first big estate-cleanout wave as original owners move on. That's the South Windsor docket.
We come up from our West Haven yard on I-91 and around on I-291 — close to an hour, which puts this squarely in next-day-window territory. You'll get a confirmed slot, not a hopeful one.
Rates that don't move
$447, $547, $647, $899 — the 10, 15, 20, and 30/40-yard tiers. The last one arrives as two 20-yard cans (see the FAQ — no physical 30-yard box exists in our fleet, and we'd rather explain that up front than let a competitor's spec sheet confuse you). Seven days, disposal, and delivery/pickup are all inside each price; allowances run 1,000 to 6,000 lbs by size with $0.10/lb overage.
The estate-cleanout wave
When an original-owner colonial sells in Wapping, forty years of attic, basement, and garage go with it. Practical sizing: a whole-house cleanout of a typical South Windsor four-bedroom fills a 20-yard at $647. Families spreading the work across weekends should remember the $15/day extension — cheaper than a rushed decision about grandma's workbench.
Flat lots, wide driveways, easy drops
Placement here is about as simple as our map gets: level subdivision driveways with room for the can's 15-by-8-foot footprint — about the length of one parking spot — plus the roll-off run. The rare snags are basketball hoops and low utility lines at the curb cut. Clear the hoop, and text (203) 219-8855 a photo if a wire looks low.
Before you book: is a can the right tool?
For a few contractor bags or one dead appliance, ask the town about resident disposal options first — that trip beats a $447 minimum. The can wins from about a room's worth up, or any time weight and repeat trips would eat your weekend.

What customers in South Windsor are saying
Y “Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.”
Y “Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.”
Y “It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.”
South Windsor dumpster rental FAQs
What will a dumpster cost me in South Windsor?
$447 for the 10-yard, $547 for the 15, $647 for the 20, $899 for the 30/40 tier. Each price covers delivery, pickup, disposal, and 7 rental days — the address within town never changes the number.
How does the 30/40-yard work if there's no 30-yard can?
It ships as two 20-yard cans — that's how we deliver the $899 tier everywhere. Take both at once for a big job, or run one and we swap in the second when it's full. Same total capacity, and you're never stuck with more can than driveway.
How soon can you get here?
Next-day windows are what we book — South Windsor is close to an hour from our West Haven yard via I-91 and I-291, far enough that same-day promises would be dishonest. The window we give you is one we keep.
Which size for a finished-basement tear-out?
Usually the 15-yard at $547: carpet, wallboard, drop ceiling, paneling, the old sectional. If the basement flooded and everything's waterlogged, weight jumps — wet material is dramatically heavier, and the 20's 4,000-lb allowance becomes the smarter buy.
Can yard debris go in with the house junk?
Brush, branches, and leaves can ride with a mixed load — but not stumps, and not soil. Stumps, dirt, concrete, and brick are the standing exclusions on every can we run.
Can I take renovation debris to the South Windsor transfer station myself?
No — South Windsor's station doesn't accept construction and demolition debris, per the town's own published materials list. The DIY route means a private C&D facility; on our jobs the debris leaves in our own cans and that problem never reaches you.
Disposal in South Windsor
Verified from South Windsor’s own municipal pages — every fact links its source.
South Windsor’s posted disposal point: No residential transfer station — South Windsor runs a curbside Bulky Waste Collection Program. ‘Bulky waste pickup is a separate collection made for refuse that is too large for your trash bin. Bulky items must be separated from other refuse and placed at the curb by 7:00am for collection.’ ‘Bulky waste collection is always during the first full week of the month, and picked up on your scheduled trash day.’ source It does not accept construction and demolition debris source — on our jobs that stream rides out in our own cans to a private C&D facility instead.
For furniture-scale material: Non-acceptable bulky waste, as the town lists it: ‘Construction material such as lumber, sheetrock, shingles, plaster, pipe, sheds, fencing, dirt, stones and rocks, railroad ties, etc.’ and ‘Bagged and/or loose trash of any type. Bulky waste is not collected in cardboard boxes or plastic bags.’ Condominium bulk items are collected once monthly on Friday only. Questions on refuse, recycling, bulky waste and scrap metal go to the town's contracted hauler (contact details on the town's page). source (program info)
