We dispatch Haddam from our West Haven yard, about 40 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via Route 9. Haddam is the large rural Middlesex town comprising several villages — Higganum is the main population center, with Haddam Center, Tylerville, and Haddam Neck (east side of CT River) as smaller villages. Population ~8,400 spread across a large geography. Most of our work is estate cleanouts at long-driveway rural properties and contractor renos at Higganum residential. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, and Middlesex counties. This page is what I tell Haddam homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Haddam?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Haddam use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Haddam Center and Walkley Hill — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Haddam dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Haddam project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or single-room cleanouts. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Haddam projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Haddam bath gut.

Kitchen reno or estate cleanout: 15-yard at $547. Most-common Haddam rental.

Whole-house cleanout, addition framing: 20-yard at $647. Haddam's rural lot sizes mean 20-yard placement is rarely a constraint.

Major contractor work, large estate cleanouts: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — easy placement on Haddam's long rural driveways.

Where can I put a dumpster in Haddam?

Haddam's rural character means placement is straightforward across most of the town — long driveways throughout Walkley Hill, Killingworth Road area, and the rural acreage between villages handle all rental sizes.

Higganum village + Haddam Center have older mid-size residential with somewhat tighter driveways than the rural acreage; placement is suburban-standard.

Haddam Neck (east side of CT River, accessible via Glastonbury route) has rural character — driveways vary widely.

State route placement along Route 9, Route 81, Route 154, or Route 151 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Haddam?

Haddam is about a 40-minute run from our West Haven yard via Route 9 — closer-band Middlesex County dispatch. We run Haddam jobs next-day default. Same-day is sometimes possible if you call before 9 AM and our morning I-95 east / Route 9 dispatch has capacity. Middlesex County is genuinely closer than far-NW Litchfield, but we still prefer to honestly promise next-day rather than over-commit on same-day. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

{/* Source (fetched 2026-08-16): https://www.haddam.org/553/Transfer-Station — 750 Saybrook Road, Haddam CT 06438; Wed 8am-3:45pm, Sat 8am-3:45pm, Sun 8am-11:45am; pass required, vehicle must be 10,000 lbs GWI or less; $120/yr standard (July-June), $50 senior 65+; 10,000-14,500 GWR vehicles $175 / $75 senior; BOGO half-price second pass, max 2 per residence; two-week temporary pass $40; "No trailers longer than 10 ft, with side boards, or having more than 1 axle are not permitted." Pass sold by Town Clerk, 30 Field Park Drive (clerk office address, NOT the station address — corrected 2026-08-16, this page previously listed the clerk's address as the station). */}

The Haddam pass, and when it stops paying for itself

Haddam's transfer station is at 750 Saybrook Road — not 30 Field Park Drive, which is where you buy the pass, and which this page had wrong until we checked it. It's open Wednesday and Saturday 8 AM–3:45 PM and Sunday 8 AM–11:45 AM.

The pass is the thing to understand before you plan a project here. A standard annual runs $120 and covers July through June regardless of when you buy it. Residents 65 and over pay $50. If your vehicle is between 10,000 and 14,500 pounds GWR the pass is $175 ($75 senior), and a second pass for the same household is half price, capped at two per residence. There's a $40 two-week temporary if you're only clearing one project.

Then the restriction that catches people: your vehicle has to be 10,000 lbs GWI or under, and trailers can't be longer than 10 feet, can't have side boards, and can't have more than one axle. That rules out most of the equipment somebody would actually rent to haul a renovation. A single-axle utility trailer without side boards holds a lot less demo than people expect, and side boards are exactly what you'd add to make the trip worthwhile.

So the Haddam calculation isn't really price against price — it's how many restricted trips you're willing to make. Buy the $120 pass if you're a steady user of the station year-round. For a defined project with a start and an end, a 10-yard at $447 in the driveway skips the pass, the weight limit, the trailer rules, and the Sunday-morning-only window entirely.

The station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

(Note: East Haddam is a separate municipality with its own facility on Nichols Road in Moodus. If you're on that side of the river, that's your town, not this one.)

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Haddam, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. Standard rural Haddam case. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: coordinate with Haddam Town Hall per haddam.org; the transfer station line (860) 345-2110 can route questions. State route placement along Route 9, Route 81, Route 154, or Route 151 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Haddam are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.
